Do you remember the cape that blew everyone else out of the water at the Oscars? When Gwynnie stepped out in the flawless white dress and cape it was the first glimpse of the Tom Ford AW collection that the world got - and we wanted more!!! But alas it seems the line was presented to a select few in a private showing so we were left waiting … and waiting, until now. Today Tom Ford posted a video of his entire collection on his website and it is every bit as captivating as we thought it would be. In this world of super-fast fashion I think I can safely say it was worth the wait.
I’ll post the video in a seperate post but let’s take a run through some of the looks first - the video’s a bit … well you’ll see! Apologies for the picture quality, they are screen grabs of the video I got from Fashionista.
It seemed Ford’s typical ban on photography included even his own unveiling of his show, making life awkward for bloggers and mainstream media alike! But from what we can see there’s serious fur - striped, yellow, red, you name it. There’s the usual show-stoppingly beautiful dresses that will get many an outing on red carpets everywhere.
Then there’s my favourite part of any Tom Ford show; the tailoring. The beautiful, immaculate, fitted-to-perfection tailoring that we have come to expect from him but that never gets old. The coats, the trousers, the skirts, everything was tailored flawlessly with just the right amount of structure.
If we take the Cruella Deville look out of the mix and the coloured fur (but that’s only my taste), then I can find very little I don’t like in this collection. I want to get a close-up view of those neckpieces and I’m not the biggest fan of the inner-leg zipper on trousers. Nonetheless it’s pure Tom Ford; classy, sexy, strong and chic.
My favourite look is without question the black fitted suit. I’m always one for some masculine tailoring but the model looks so strong, even in the blurry image, that I just know there’s something special about a Ford suit.
I’m ready for some clearer pictures now please but until that check out the video in the next post!
